Introduction

Sunil is a 54-year-old amputee living in Millawana. He used to work in a shop and lost his leg following a motorcycle accident. Sunil has two sons and one daughter.

“One day, when I was coming back from the shop after work, I met with an accident on the road,” he said. “I was on a motorcycle and injured my leg.” He lost his leg 4 months ago, and it has been 1 month since he was discharged from the hospital.

Although he is unable to work, Sunil still receives a payment from his workplace. He is motivated to maintain and care for a prosthetic leg if he were to receive one.

Follow-up (6 months)

What challenges did you face with the new leg?

“I was initially in a wheelchair. I had trouble getting used to the new leg, as my leg felt numb. I am now adjusting well to it.”

How has the leg impacted your life?

“I initially used to have trouble getting around in my wheelchair, but now I feel much more free. I am able to get around and take care of my daily activities unlike before.”
