Harshi Mendis
Harshi received an iPhone in July 2018. We followed up with her to learn how our donation has affected her quality of life.
I’m Harshi Mendis from Kosgoda. I have very low vision. I badly wanted an iPhone and I got one two years ago. It is very useful for me. I had heard that the best phone for visually impaired people is the iPhone. When I got one for myself, I realized that it is true.
Reminders, Voice Memos, and Seeing AI are among my favorite apps on the iPhone. I use Siri a lot to get things done.
I travel by train most of the time and the Google Maps’ commute facility helps me find the train times and informs me one stop before the stop I have to get off.
I can take decent photos with the camera app, which tells me where the object or person is. I also use the MySelfie app to take selfies. Because this app has voice guidance and takes the photo on its own, it is very useful.
I use all kinds of social media and all of them are accessible to me. The iPhone also gives me a description of what or who is in a photo.
VoiceOver is very clear and responsive.
Therefore, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in donating me the iPhone.
